Pregnancy massage is a great way for a pregnant woman to relax.
If a pregnant woman is relaxed and happy she is more likely to have a relaxed and happy baby.
Having regular massages during pregnancy will help to reduce any muscle tension, help the muscles to relax as they accommodate the growing baby, ensure that you are calm and relaxed. Having massages later in pregnancy relaxes the muscles around your lower back and abdomen creating more space for the baby to move.
Pregnancy massage is safe to receive at any time during your pregnancy.
At the beginning of your pregnancy you will usually lie as normal (face down) unless this is uncomfortable for you due to increased sensitivity in your breasts. Massages at the middle and end of your pregnancy will be performed with you laying on your side propped up by cushions, your comfort is paramount so I will always check with you to ensure the position you lay in is comfortable for you.
After having your baby you may find that regular massages help your body to recover from the birth, they will also assist with the release of any tension you have in your back and shoulders from feeding and carrying your newborn. Making time for a massage can be tricky with a newborn but it is important to make time for yourself, especially as you will feel less tense and more relaxed after the treatment.
Your first treatment will include an initial consultation where I will take your medical history, look at your diet and lifestyle, all of these will enable me to create a treatment which will best suit you.
